Stapleton Parks Master Plan

.

Development for a 7000 acre Brownfield project formerly the Stapleton International Airport at Denver.  Served as landscape architect and planner for the 400 acres of parks system. This system included three main park systems.  To the south is a greenway belt that serves as a circulation source to connect to the park system.  Along the circulation path are dog parks, wildlife refuges, playgrounds, native plantings, water features and open space.  The north-south spine of the park system is Westerly Creek.  This creek was covered during the construction of the airport.  The design called to daylight this once water source and created a water quality system with riparian corridors focusing on native ecosystems and the preservation of flora and fauna.  The main park is Central Park.  It is an 80 acre regional park featuring a diagonal promenade terminating with a cantilevered bridge over Westerly Creek.
