Stapleton Central Park

Description:  Development for a 7000 acre brownfield project formerly the Stapleton International Airport at Denver.  Served as landscape architect for the 400 acres of parks system. Within this park system is Stapleton’s 80-acre Central Park which will serve as the centerpiece of the community’s park system and as a regional draw for the city of Denver.  Located immediately east of the preserved Stapleton Control Tower the parks most prominent feature is the Promenade which runs diagonal through the park and concludes its gesture with a cantilevered bridge that overlooks the Westerly Creek wetland preservation. Other elements include an urban forest, central gathering area with a childs play area, interactive water features, picnic and concessions pavilions, a trail system based upon natural geometric proportions of nature, and a native grass prairie mound area, the highest of which will reach thirty feet and provide an ideal sledding hill.
